Traditional Replacement Project Featuring Sash Windows
Upgrading A Period Home With Timber Sash Windows
This historic period home demanded a range of wood windows and doors that upgraded the thermal performance while staying true to its original traditional appearance. The goal of this window and door project was to preserve the historic appearance of the architecture with attentive amendments intended to support the active modern lifestyle of the family. The old timber windows and doors were single glazed and poorly insulated which produced numerous problems for the homeowner.
Large bay style 1570mm wide by 1800mm high sliding sash windows allows an abundance of natural light to flood the interior of the home. Structural steel supports were built into the mullions within the bay window.
Signature worked closely with the client to maintain a true historical facade and focusing on fine details such as profiling and sash horns. From the modern light-filled interiors to the traditional slim profile window and door finish, this is a fine example of how to do a true historic replacement project.
